Our Extreme
Makeover |
 |
Our Newsletter, formerly known as
NewOffice News, has experienced an extreme makeover this
month! Our fresh new style and bold colors reflect the
Web 2.0 fashion trends that you will see adopted on our
http://www.new-hire.com/
home page before the start of 2010.
The new name
of our newsletter acknowledges that the majority of our
customers now know us as the providers of NewHire
Candidate Management & Applicant Tracking software,
and not by our corporate parent name (New Office Temps,
Ltd).
But don’t worry, we haven’t abandoned our
(Chicago) roots. If you need someone who can work during
the busy times, someone who can get you through the ups,
and not burden you through the downs…(and you’re in
ChicagoLand), give us a shout
(or call: 312-923-0054) and we’ll send the right person
from our pool of talented, tested, tried-and-true
temps.
Even though our look has been updated, you
can continue to expect the same interesting and timely
articles with tips and links to real world hiring
solutions. There are also some new features we hope you
will enjoy.
Each issue will highlight a NewHire
client and an open position they are recruiting for. We
are working with companies that provide everything form
child care to solar cell technology, from concrete
floors to music jingles – it’s not quiet A to Z but it
comes pretty close.
Additionally, you can find a
link to President Chuck Smith’s blog: Ask Chuck!. We
invite you to read it, pass it on and of course
comment!

The Sassy World
of Social Networking: |
 |
Candidates are
doing it too. They are finding out about employers’
reputations using the very same social networking
tools.
Not long ago we were contacted by
a candidate who was through a second round of interviews
at a manufacturing firm. He called to let us know that
he was no longer interested in the opportunity. Why? He
had found a former employee using his social network,
and enquired about the employer. He reported to us that
he had heard enough negative information to cause him to
withdraw from consideration for the job!
Here is
another scary one: check out a website called: http://www.jobvent.com/.
This site is filled with postings from employees venting
about their employer. Granted, disgruntled employees are
not a reliable source of information but…damage is done
to the employer reputation in the eyes of the
prospective hires. The take away: Candidates are talking
about employers – publicly.
So remember that your
recruitment advertising and hiring process touch lots of
candidate and even some potential customers. As you
recruit, be as mindful of your corporate image and value
proposition as you are in every other marketing
communication you use.
Employers are also using
social networking to attract candidates to open
positions. This can be a cost effective strategy that
dovetails with your traditional recruitment advertising
and your corporate job board. To learn more about how
NewHire is able to take advantage of this newest arrow
in the quiver – join us for an upcoming
